Household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) are provided by Hertfordshire County Council as places where residents can deposit their household waste free of charge. As a 'rule of thumb', household waste is what you would normally take with you if you were to move home. Therefore, items such as fence panels and doors are not household waste.

The centres are specifically for residents delivering their own household waste and will not accept waste from trade or business activities. All centres have separate containers for a comprehensive range of recyclable materials.

The centres are open every day of the year except Christmas day, Boxing day and New Year's day.

If the waste you have has arisen from works of construction, demolition or excavation, there is a limit on what can be taken to a HWRC.
