New Statement of Community Involvement
We are in the process of updating our Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). It is a national requirement set out by Government that requires local councils to produce an SCI. The role of the SCI is to outline our standards for community involvement in the planning process and to identify ways we will achieve these standards. We adopted our current SCI in June 2006. It therefore needs updating to ensure that it reflects new Government requirements set out in current Planning Acts and Regulations and the increasing use of electronic communication.
The SCI sets out our approach to public consultation in two areas of planning:
- Planning policies: The preparation, alteration and continuing review of planning policy documents included within the local development framework.
- Planning applications: Consultation on planning applications.
The SCI explains when we will consult the community in relation to planning applications, development plan documents and supplementary planning documents; what we will expect from applicants before they submit a planning application; how we engage with the community and who we will involve.
Whilst there is no longer a legal requirement for us to consult on our SCI, we are informally asking a number of groups, companies and individuals who have a particular interest in planning within Dacorum for their feedback on the new draft document. This consultation ends at 5pm on 25 February,
following a six-week consultation. Comments should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
by this deadline. SCI draft consultation 2016 (PDF 776KB)
