Dacorum Climate Action Network
Dacorum Climate Action Network (Dacorum CAN) brings together local individuals and organisations to ‘think global and act local’.
The aim of the network is to bring about meaningful change and provide a platform that will support, educate, encourage and enable people to make positive environmental changes in their everyday lives. These collective actions will help to tackle the Climate and Ecological Emergency by reducing emissions and increasing biodiversity.

A recent flagship Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report gave the world a stark "code red" warning and confirmed that climate change is happening, it is caused by human activity, and we have a very short window of time to take action and mitigate against the worst impacts.
It is important that we collectively take action to reduce our emissions as quickly as we can. The more individuals and organisations who work together and take action, the more we can achieve.
By joining the network, regular environmental information and advice will be provided via:

Get Creative for the Climate
We are calling on local artists to get creative for the climate and take part in our Climate and Ecological Emergency Exhibition.
The exhibition is being held throughout November to tie in with COP26 - the global climate change conference, which is being hosted by the UK.
The Get Creative for the Climate initiative is being run in collaboration with Herts Visual Arts and will feature creative pieces from artists from around the borough. It is hoped that the art will help to encourage Dacorum’s residents to reflect on the challenges that lie ahead of us, but also provide an opportunity to learn about the available solutions, and inspire people to get involved in local climate action.
All visual art that can be displayed on a wall is welcome for submission, including drawings, paintings, photography and poetry. The theme of the exhibition is the Climate and Ecological Emergency - this has been kept intentionally broad so that artists can choose how they wish to interpret this. If you would like to take part, you have until Sunday 24 October 2021.
For more details, please read the Climate and Ecological Emergency Exhibition Guidelines (PDF 752KB).
Submit photos of your artwork online
We want to showcase individuals and organisations who are working hard within the borough to take positive environmental actions. If that sounds like you, or someone you know, we want to know more so that we can share their story with the network.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with details.
Annual Conference and Networking Event
The first annual conference and networking event will take place in the evening of Wednesday 3 November 2021 at the Forum, Hemel Hempstead.
There will be a range of guest speakers from various organisations who operate in Dacorum. They will talk through key topics around what is happening locally and how you can get involved.
There will also be a range of stall-holders to engage with and many like-minded people to network with.
More details about the event will be confirmed closer to the time.
If you are an organisation interested in hosting a stall at the event to promote your local environmental activities, please email email@example.com.
If you have a specific query or have any suggestions about how Dacorum CAN could be improved, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
