Filming in Dacorum
Dacorum offers a wide range of filming locations from quaint towns and villages and beautiful parks to modern towns and business parks - and is conveniently located close to world-class filming studios, making it a fantastic place to film.
We welcome film and TV companies to the area and recognise the benefits that filming and film tourism can bring to the economy. We also recognise that we have to balance this with the needs of our residents and local businesses and the use of our public resources. This means that we may not always be able to accommodate all filming requests, or may need to restrict filming activities to particular days and/or times to minimise the impact. We will tell you as soon as possible should this be the case.
Productions filmed in Dacorum include:
- After Life
- Endeavour
- A Confession
- Bohemian Rhapsody
- The Favourite
- Grantchester
- Killing Eve
We can provide the help and support that is needed to help you find the best location for your production.

Fees and charges
There is an administration fee for all filming applications - this fee is from £140, plus VAT. This fee will vary, dependant on notice periods given. Ideally, we would like at least four weeks' prior notice. However, we are able to accommodate most requests.
Where filming takes place on council property (for example, parks), or areas managed by Dacorum Borough Council (for example, shopping areas) the charges are:
- up to one hour - £246 plus VAT
- between one and four hours - £564 plus VAT
- Half day (four to six hours) - £960 plus VAT
- Full day (seven hours or more) - £1,400 plus VAT per day
Exceptions may be made for student productions. Set up and strike days will be charged at 50 per cent of the full day rate.
If, for any reason, you cancel your filming requirements following your application, please notify us at the earliest opportunity. We are unable to refund any filming administration fee once this has been processed. A failure to notify us in good time of cancellation of filming on council-owned and/or managed land will result in the full filming charges being levied.
