Litter

Litter is unsightly, expensive to remove and can cause harm to residents and wildlife. Help us to keep Dacorum a litter-free zone by not dropping litter and putting your rubbish in the bins provided.

If you are caught littering, you can be issued an £75 fixed penalty notice. If this is not paid you could be taken to court, which could result in a maximum fine of £2,500. If you see anyone littering or notice any overflowing litter bins, please report it to us.

Additionally, fly-tipping is the illegal disposal of rubbish without a waste management licence, and attracts a far heftier penalty than littering. For more information, including how to report fly-tipping, please visit our fly-tipping page.

Report litter

Our streets and open areas are cleaned on a rota basis. However, if you have come across a particularly high level of litter, or litter which could cause harm if left unattended, please fill out our online form to report it so that we can clear it as soon as possible.

Report a full litter bin

We empty our litter bins on a rota, typically twice a week. Sometimes our litter bins become full before they are scheduled to be emptied. If this is the case, please report a full litter bin here and we will empty it as soon as possible.
