Severe Weather Emergency Protocol
For anyone who is street homeless, the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) comes into force whenever the temperature drops to freezing or below.
This means extra 'Crash Pad' bed spaces are made available for everyone who needs them during this period.
This will only last for the period where the temperature drops that low, but it is available to anyone who would otherwise be outside.
If you are street homeless and the temperature falls below freezing, then you need to contact DENS or ourselves to gain access to this emergency provision.
You can do this in the following ways:
- In person - at The Forum, Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1DN
- By phone - call 01442 228000 and ask for Homeless Prevention (Outside our office hours you need to call 0800 018 6050).
Your kindness could kill
- Giving money to people who beg may help to keep them on the streets.
- In some cases, you will be helping to pay for the drugs that could kill them.
- Giving to people who beg won't help but giving to charity will. Please give responsibly.
