Arts and culture
Hertfordshire Year of Culture 2020 (HYOC2020)
Hertfordshire celebrated a year of culture and creativity during 2020, as part of a year-long campaign to showcase the county's creative opportunities. In spite of the many challenges of 2020, what became apparent is how important creativity and connectedness are.
We would like to thank all of the organisations that had events planned as part of HYOC2020 and the response to the COVID-19 lockdown was amazing. Many of the planned events were adapted for online delivery instead. This allowed them to reach those who were isolated, and helped us to continue to celebrate arts, heritage and culture across the county.
The HYOC2020 in Dacorum film highlights some of the wonderful projects, events and activities that took place in Dacorum during 2020. A special thanks goes to Electric Umbrella for allowing us to use its single Try Smiling for the video, released as part of its Try Smiling campaign during HYOC2020.
You can also see some of the films from the featured projects on our Active Dacorum YouTube channel.
HYOC2020 was supported by all 11 Hertfordshire local authorities.
Creative Hertfordshire is the online network for the arts and creative community in Hertfordshire. It is a space for creative individuals, businesses and places to share what they do. If you are an artist, producer, creative organisation, creative business or venue, you can create a profile page and showcase your work to others in Hertfordshire and beyond. This is also another great platform to stay up to date with arts and cultural activities across the county.
