Sign up now for the 2024 Garden Waste Subscription Service

You can now buy a subscription for the 2024 Garden Waste Subscription Service. The annual charge for the service is £50 per green-lidded bin. You need to subscribe if you would like to have your garden waste collected.

To find out more and to subscribe, please visit our Garden Waste Subscription Service page.

If you regularly create more waste than you can fit in your green-lidded bin, you can buy an extra green-lidded bin for a one-off charge of £29, plus the annual subscription charge of £50 per bin.

Garden waste collections will restart from the fortnight beginning 4 March 2024 and continue until late November/early December 2024. Find out your next green-lidded bin collection date and download a collection calendar.

If you decide not to sign up to the paid service, there are many ways you can still recycle your garden waste. You can put in a home composting bin to turn it into valuable and nutrient-rich food for your garden, or take it to your local recycling centre.

Green-lidded bins are for organic garden waste only, such as:

  • grass/hedge cuttings
  • leaves
  • twigs/small branches
  • flowers (including cut flowers that are kept inside the house)
  • prunings
  • weeds
  • small animal bedding made from straw, hay or woodchips (but not shredded paper)

You should recycle all cardboard in your blue-lidded bin. All food waste should go into your food waste caddy. Materials such as treated wood, hardcore and turf should be taken to your local recycling centre.

No plastic, cardboard, food waste, pet faeces or other waste should ever go in your green-lidded bin. If these materials are in your bin, then we may not collect it.
