Dacorum forges ahead as new Electric Vehicle Charging Points go live in Tring
The first of a new batch of Electric Vehicle Charging Points (EVCPs) for Dacorum is up and running in Tring - with many more to follow across the borough.
New “Rapid” EVCPs are now live in the Forge Car Park, Tring, with installation work also set to be completed soon in High Street Car Park in Hemel Hempstead.
A range of different EVCPs - from “Fast” to “Ultra Rapid” - are on the way at many other sites in Dacorum, with installation starting soon. We'll release information about when these will be available as the designs are finalised and works are planned.
We were awarded £415,360 by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), with support of the Energy Saving Trust, for additional charging points to be fitted in our public car parks for those people with plug-in electric vehicles. We are working towards making Dacorum net-zero by 2050 at the latest.
Cllr Adrian England (pictured), our Portfolio Holder for Climate Change, and Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “I’m delighted to see these first three Osprey EV charging points go live, which has happened earlier than expected. Tring now leads this wave of modern infrastructure being installed right across Dacorum, helping residents, shoppers and other visitors to be confident in leaving behind vehicles which require outdated fossil fuels.”
