Applying to operate a fair

Anyone wishing to apply to operate a fair on council-owned land is required to give us notice prior to the holding of the event. We require a minimum of one month's notice.

We will need to inspect the fair operator's public liability certificates and the equipment's operational compliance certificate before permission is granted for the fair to operate.

Fairs are controlled by the Showmen's Guild and there are regulations that give fairs the right to operate on particular sites and at particular times based on previous visits. There are also controls concerning the timing and distance between fairs.

To apply to run a fair on council land, please complete the form below and return it to us using the contact details at the bottom of the page.
