Tour of Britain 2017
The penultimate stage of the Tour of Britain cycle race will be rolling into Hemel Hempstead on Saturday 9 September.
Hemel town centre will be buzzing with cyclists and their support teams from 9am. There will be plenty of action in the town centre during the morning as competitors are interviewed on stage, and you can watch all the top teams prepare for the race start.
The Tour of Britain is also being shown live on ITV4, so remember to set your TV to record so you can spot your face in the crowd when you get home later.
The race is scheduled to get under way at 10.30am. After the starting pistol is fired, the professional cyclists will battle their way up the dual carriageway and along Maylands Avenue before sailing down Queensway and winding through Hemel's stunning Old Town High Street.
Once the racers have sped away from the town centre there will still be heaps happening to keep both adults and kids entertained all morning.
What's happening in Hemel town centre?
3sixty bicycle stunt display team
Following the race start the riders from 3sixty will be leaping into action. Walk down to Bridge Street where you will be thrilled as they perform their spectacular stunts and gravity-defying tricks.
Hemel Storm basketball will be showing off their skills, and you can also take a look at all the fantastic bikes entered into our 'decorate a bike competition', the winners of which will be announced on stage before the race start.
Want to cheer along the route?
If you can't make it to the race start in Hemel Hempstead you can still catch a glimpse of the cyclists as they wind their way through Dacorum's countryside. Take a look at the route map:
On Saturday 9 September we will be closing Moor End Road, Waterhouse Street, Bridge Street and the Bus Interchange on Marlowes from 12am until 4pm. Buses will be redirected and two temporary bus stops added. One opposite bus stop ‘W’ in Combe Street and two opposite The Forum. There will be bus marshals on the day to help redirect people from the current bus stops.
Rolling road closures will be in place along the route and are expected to cause a 15-minute delay for traffic in those areas.
