Reclaim a lost or stray dog
If we collect your dog as a stray, we will take it to our kennels. If it requires veterinary care, this will be carried out. The dog will remain in our care for seven days and we will take steps to inform the registered keeper or the owner of the dog (where it is known to be different).
How to reclaim your dog
To reclaim your dog and pay any fees, please call us on 01442 228455 during normal office hours (8.45am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, and 8.45am to 4.30pm on Fridays).
You will need to provide us with a:
- detailed description of the dog
- your name, address and a telephone number
- microchip number of the dog (if you have it)
At the kennels you will need to provide:
- evidence that the dog belongs to you, such as Kennel Club registration or vet bill. Failure to provide proof of ownership may result in a delay returning the dog to you.
- proof of your address, such as a utility bill.

Fees
When you claim your dog you will need to pay a fee, plus any other costs incurred. This may include veterinary care and microchipping your dog if it doesn’t already have one. You will also need to pay kennel costs. These are based on the number of days your dog has been kept in kennels, plus any administration fees.
You must pay fees by card over the phone (on 01442 228455) before you will be able to collect the dog from our appointed kennels. Please note: we do not accept payment plans.
