Neutering

We recommend getting your pet spayed (female) or neutered (male). Benefits include:

  • Neutering makes reproduction impossible, preventing pet overpopulation
  • It can prevent life-threatening conditions, including cancer
  • Pets spayed or neutered by six months of age are less likely to develop behavioural issues
  • Older pets may also behave better after neutering/spaying.

Request a neutering voucher for my dog (council tenants only)

We work in partnership with Vets4Pets Hemel to provide help with neutering. If you are a Dacorum Borough Council tenant with a dog you can request a neutering voucher entitling you to a 30 per cent discount.

To request a voucher, email animalwelfare@dacorum.gov.uk with the following details:

  • Your name, address and telephone number. For more information on how we use your data, please see our privacy policies page (Regulatory Services)
  • Name and description of the dog (include the breed, sex, age and microchip details)

Financial support for cat neutering

We can't help with cat neutering costs, but Cats Protection has advice on financial help.
