Refurbished play areas now open

We have recently refurbished five play areas this summer to enhance the play experience for young children across the borough.

Play areas in Flaunden, Croft Meadow, Tower Hill, Woodhall Farm and Apsley Lock have all now reopened. The works have seen the playgrounds transformed into interactive areas for all children to enjoy.

The play areas have been designed for children between the ages of two and 14, with a large range of play features at each of the sites, including play castles, toddler ships and sand diggers. The design of each of the play areas reflects the heritage of the local area while incorporating the three key elements of play – active, balance and coordination.

Over £1million has been invested in these projects, with the funding sourced from a combination of £500,000 from Dacorum Borough Council and £610,000 from Community Infrastructure Levy funding – this is money the Council collect from developers towards local infrastructure.

Cllr Robin Bromham, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Operations, said: “We are delighted to reopen these beautifully refurbished play parks, providing children and families in Dacorum with vibrant and exciting spaces to explore and enjoy. These improvements are a testament to our commitment to enhancing community amenities and ensuring that our parks remain inviting and accessible to all.”
