As part of local plans to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, we've teamed up with Hemel Hempstead Business Improvement District and High Street Safari to run a free story-trail in Hemel Hempstead. The trail, which runs until Sunday 12 June 2022,
offers an innovative experience for all the family.
The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Beacon Trail has seven stops in and around Hemel town centre to visit, positioned so that families can discover hidden parts of the town. Each one will have a unique QR code, which, when scanned with your smartphone, will
reveal a story about a decade in the Queen's historic 70-year reign.
Players will be able to discover characters along the route - and see them burst to life in augmented reality, with the opportunity to take selfies and record videos with them. Families will be guided on their trip by Sir Barnaby Beacon as he visits seven
memorable and magical friends, such as Charlie Crown or Theodora Throne, who have come to life from Buckingham Palace and gone on a trip to see Hemel Hempstead.
The trail takes around 45 minutes but can be completed in more than one visit. It's free for families and groups to take part in and each will receive a free, digital fun pack at the end.
The idea behind the event is to encourage families to come into Hemel town centre for a safe, socially distanced and fun activity. Not only is the trail an innovative and fun day out for players, but participants can also choose to donate to Help for
Heroes to support our veterans and their families.
