Parks and green spaces across the country will be raising their Green Flag Award with pride in a year when millions of people have seen the value of having great quality green spaces on their doorstep.
Among them will be five parks and green spaces in Dacorum:
- Bunkers Park, Hemel Hempstead
- Canal Fields, Berkhamsted
- Chipperfield Common
- Tring Memorial Garden
- Water Gardens, Hemel Hempstead
The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, is an international quality mark, recognising and rewarding well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for their management across the United Kingdom
and around the world.
These five sites in Dacorum have once again been awarded Green Flags, recognising the beautifully, well-managed green spaces and the dedicated staff who look after them.
Cllr Alan Anderson, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, said: “I am delighted that these beautiful sites have achieved Green Flag status once again. This award recognises the outstanding work of the teams who manage and maintain them to
such a high standard.
"This year, these green spaces have been even more important for residents' health and well-being and I would like to thank all the staff involved in providing these areas for our community.”
The awards wouldn’t be possible without collaboration between the council, town and parish councils and the amazing volunteers and community groups, who between them maintain the exceptional high standards in these council-run parks.
