Waste Services winter update

2018-19 waste collection calendars

The new calendars will be delivered to all households in Dacorum in the form of bin hangers between 26-30 November. Residents can also check their bin collections online using our postcode checking tool and download a PDF version. A cut-out-and-keep copy of the new waste collection calendar was also printed in the winter issue of our residents’ magazine, Dacorum Digest.

You can also register with MyDacorum to receive text or email alerts the night before your bin collection is due, including information on which bins to put out, plus access to quick-fill forms, quicker payments, online statements and information about your local area. Visit our MyDacorum page to sign up.

Garden waste collections closing

The last garden waste collections for 2018 will be taking place between 3  and 14 December. The new calendar will show the last collection date before the service is suspended over winter, as well as when the service will restart in 2019.

Additional Garden Waste Subscription Service

Online subscriptions for 2018 are now closed. If you would like to pay to have an extra green bin emptied in 2019, you will be able to purchase subscriptions from January 2019 on our Additional garden waste subscription service page.

Severe weather

If you would like to be kept up to date with any unplanned changes you can subscribe to our waste text alert service. Please note: the online bin collection checker will not show changes to collections due to severe weather conditions. However, the website will be kept up to date with full details of any changes.

Festive bank holidays

Please refer to the bank holiday bin collection changes outlined on your waste collection calendar. For some residents, collections will be earlier than normal, for others it will be later.

Household Waste Recycling Centres (tips/dumps)

The Household Waste Recycling Centre on Eastman Way, Hemel Hempstead, is operating under its winter opening hours of 8am to 4pm. For more information about local Household Waste Recycling Centres, including locations, opening hours and what materials are accepted, please visit our Recycling centres page.

There is now a new automated online van permit scheme. Van drivers will be able to apply for and receive a permit immediately, even from the site itself. This will allow the user to visit 12 times a year.
