Fundraising drive raises £2,000 for hospice

A charity hot rods event was held in memory of Peter Mills

The memory of Peter Mills, a former Dacorum Borough Council employee, was honoured at a Hot Rods custom car show, where more than 90 cars motored along to support the day.

The event, on 6 May, raised £2,000 for the Mayor’s charity, The Hospice of St Francis and was co-organised by our Chief Executive Sally Marshall, in memory of her late husband Peter, a Hot Rods car owner and enthusiast.

Sally said: “It was a lovely day and a fitting tribute to Peter. We are very grateful to the local businesses that donated to the tombola and auction and helped raise such a fantastic sum of money.”

Carolyn Addison, Head of Corporate Fundraising at The Hospice of St Francis, added: “The Hot Rods event was such a brilliant and different initiative to hold in memory of Peter. We would especially like to thank Kevin and Shirley Catling for helping to organise the event and are delighted that so many people turned out to see the cars and support the Hospice. Two thousand pounds is a fantastic sum, which will help us care for more precious lives, like Peter’s, in the future. Thank you so much to all involved.”
