Our supported housing service has again achieved a national ‘outstanding’ rating.
The three-star accreditation by the Centre for Housing and Support (CHS) recognises our high standards of care and support and is the highest award possible from the national training provision for professionals working in housing-related support.
In 2014, we were the first housing provider ever to achieve the ‘outstanding’ three-star standard and we are still one of only nine organisations in the UK reaching the top level.
The CHS accreditation shows that our supported housing service has:
- An independent accreditation to verify the quality of its services
- Reassurance and evidence that staff are knowledgeable, trained and supported to provide care and support services
- A focus on the positive outcomes experienced by customers using the housing and support services that we provide.
Cllr Margaret Griffiths, Portfolio Holder for Housing, said, “We are really proud of our supported housing service. This accreditation confirms that we are getting it right for our tenants who want to live an independent life, with the assurance that support is available when they need it.”
Supported Housing is accommodation for people who are 60 years old and over, who can live on their own but have support close by if they need it now or in years to come. There are 31 supported housing schemes across the borough, each with a supported housing officer who runs the scheme and looks after the residents’ wellbeing.
