Digital Planning Agenda

We've been selected, along with seven other local authorities, to join an exciting project to develop two new user-centred digital planning systems: RIPA - Reducing Invalid Planning Applications and BOPS - Back Of house Planning System.

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities’ digital planning software work is moving into a new phase of collaboration and delivery with Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) and software providers.

Improving the software used by LPAs to support development management is a key focus of the department's work to reform the planning system in England.

RIPA and BOPS are new digital products being developed collaboratively by a group of pioneering councils.

The products are designed to be user-friendly and to make better use of the data related to planning applications. This opens up new opportunities to improve the accessibility, transparency and efficiency of planning services

The new partners will be integrated into the project team in the next few months with the aim of launching a beta (test) service for Lawful Development Certificates on their websites in the summer (2022).
