Youth Action Entertainers
Are you aged nine or over?* Do you have a talent and like to perform?
Our Youth Action Entertainers are young people who volunteer their time by visiting older people across Dacorum, chatting, serving tea and coffee and performing if they choose.
Can you sing, dance, play an instrument, recite poetry or any other weird and wonderful talent you would like to share? From piano players to guitar enthusiasts, from Irish dancing to musical theatre and displays, our Youth Action Entertainers are using their talents to brighten up the lives of older residents.
As well as individual volunteers, community groups are also welcome to sign up for group performances - for example, singing groups, dance schools, drama groups, cadets and martial arts.
Events are normally in the afternoon during the school holidays or in the evening during term time. We currently run six sessions a year, but are working to increase these. Events are held across Dacorum at a different elderly persons' sheltered scheme each time.
*Young people aged over seven may attend if accompanied by a parent/guardian.
If it sounds like something you’re interested in but you'd like some practice, Youth Connexions is offering volunteers the use of its music studio to get ready for the performances. You’ll have the opportunity to use the music and editing equipment while you’re there.
