Parking fines and appeals

We are responsible for enforcing parking restrictions. Vinci Park Services carries out this task on our behalf.

Civil Enforcement Officers are responsible for enforcing parking on-street and in council run off-street car parks. They issue tickets called “Penalty Charge Notices” (PCNs) to motorists who are incorrectly parked.

Parking tickets (Penalty Charge Notices)

  • For more serious parking infringements, the fine is £70. This reduces to £35 for prompt payment.
  • For less serious parking infringements, the fine is £50. This reduces to £25 for prompt payment.
The Council keeps this income to offset running costs.

You can pay your parking ticket (penalty charge notice) online using our secure payments system.

Appeals

If you feel that you have been issued with a parking fine unfairly you should appeal to the Parking Centre in writing.

Further into the appeals process, you may wish to appeal to the Traffic Penalty Tribunal. The tribunal provides an independent system of appeal for motorists who have unsuccessfully appealed via the Parking Centre but still wish to pursue their case. You can get more details about this service from the Parking Centre.
