Colourful Minds: Art for Wellbeing Programme
Colourful Minds is a creative art course to support mental wellbeing, taking place at the South Hill Centre in Hemel Hempstead. Creative activity can play an essential role in managing mental wellbeing by increasing confidence and reducing anxiety and stress. This course is an opportunity to enhance mental wellbeing by using a variety of art forms in an enjoyable, safe, supportive and friendly environment.
Our next course will run for 12 weeks starting in June 2023 at the South Hill Centre in Hemel Hempstead and there will be free taster sessions throughout May so you can see if the course is right for you.
We are funding the course so that it is available at an affordable price for Dacorum residents. It is run by a qualified artist from Herts Inclusive Theatre, our delivery partner. No experience is needed to take part - all levels, including beginners, are welcome.
When and where?
- Free drop-in taster sessions every Friday this May (5, 12, 19 and 26) between 1pm and 3pm.
These sessions will take place in the Employment and Wellbeing Hub at South Hill Centre and provide you with an opportunity to try the activity before you apply, discover more and meet the artist. You can just drop in between these times or call in advance to let the artist know you are coming along.
- 12-week course each Thursday (starting 8 June 2023) between 10am and midday.
The two-hour group sessions will take place in a dedicated room at South Hill Centre and include a break with tea and coffee, and are a chance to connect with others in a friendly, supportive and creative environment. The sessions are limited to a maximum of 12 participants.
- Venue: South Hill Centre, Cemetery Hill, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1JF
- Cost: The taster sessions are free of charge but each session of the 12-week course costs £3 (£36 in total, payable in advance). Tea, coffee and all materials are provided.
Who's it for?
Dacorum residents aged 18 and over wishing to enhance their mental wellbeing or that have conditions affecting their mental wellbeing, such as anxiety and stress. Or for those experiencing social isolation.
