Coronavirus (COVID-19) business advice

Our Economic Development team remains fully available and will continue to work with all local businesses. We're here to support the business and wider community and can be reached via telephone and email as usual. See our full contact details.

How we can help

We're acutely aware of the difficulties many businesses are experiencing as a result of the COVID-19 virus situation and are more than happy to help in any way we can.

Below are some questions to ask yourself:

  • Can you provide your product/service online?
  • Can you diversify and develop new products and services?
  • Are there ways to streamline your business and its activities?
  • Are you getting the best profit margins from your activities?
  • Are you communicating to your customers effectively?

We can provide you with free guidance, advice and help with business continuity planning - or even to just lend an impartial ear.

All business meetings can be conducted remotely, your advisor will discuss the options available with you.

Government support for business

The Government has implemented a variety of measures and financial support provisions to help businesses through this uncertain time. Full details about these schemes can be found on the Government's website.

We are responsible for administering these grants locally. For more information, please visit our Business rates relief page.

Guidance on how to work safely

Shops in England selling non-essential goods are now able to reopen. It's vital that establishments ensure they are meeting the guidelines. Find out more on the Government website.

Stay Safe Hertfordshire

Hertfordshire County Council is working with district and borough councils and other organisations across the county to launch a new Stay Safe Hertfordshire campaign, which supports the safe reopening of Hertfordshire’s town centres.

As part of the campaign, a toolkit has been developed for businesses to provide advice and resources that will help to reopen premises safely. View and download the toolkit.

The toolkit includes a suite of posters than can be displayed in premises to encourage social distancing and other behaviours that will help to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
