Garden waste collections restart for 2021

Garden waste seasonal collections have now restarted for 2021. Garden waste should be put in your green-lidded bins and should consist of organic garden waste only, such as:

  • grass/hedge cuttings
  • leaves
  • twigs/small branches
  • flowers (including cut flowers that are kept inside the house)
  • prunings
  • weeds
  • small animal bedding made from straw, hay or woodchips (but not shredded paper)

No bags, plastic, cardboard, food, pet faeces or any other waste should ever go in your green-lidded bin. All cardboard should be recycled in your blue-lidded bin and all food waste should go into food waste caddies.

If you are unsure when your green-lidded bins are being collected, you can use our online postcode checking tool to download your Waste Collection Calendar.

We can only accept garden waste in the green-lidded bins provided, we cannot take extra waste in bags. If you have a large garden, or are planning a big garden project this year and need more capacity, you may want to sign up for additional bins.

The 2021 Additional Garden Waste Subscription Service offers the opportunity to buy additional 240-litre green-lidded bins for £25 each and have them collected on your normal garden waste collection day for a seasonal subscription fee of £55 per bin.

The additional green-lidded bins will be collected at the same time as the normal green-lidded bin collections, and the season is typically from March to November.

The regular, free garden waste service currently provided to householders will remain unchanged - this additional service is simply an optional extra.
