To give loans to our members at the low interest rate of 1% per month on the reducing balance (12.68%APR)

What is a Credit Union?

A savings & lending co-operative, owned and run local volunteers(unpaid)members who serve anybody who live or works in the Dacorum Borough. All profits are returned to the Credit Union which in turn are given back to the members

Why join Dacorum Credit Union?

Your savings are safe – We are regulated by the Financial Services Authority. We can offer our members excellent interest on saving accounts (last year 3.75%). Our members can pay into their accounts as and when they want

What about Lending?

Currently DFCU does not charge more than 1% interest on the monthly reducing balance. This facility is available once a new member has been a regular saver for about 8 weeks. We also have a scheme to help those who wish to claim an “emergency loan”.

Why have I never heard of this?

The UK has been really slow to join what is one of the fastest growing financial movement in the world. 100 million people in 84 countries have already joined. Across the UK Credit Unions are spreading fast as people turn away from the profit making Banks and join their local community option.

Where do I sign up?

You can pop into any of our collection points and fill in an application form alternatively send us an e-mail or phone our local office and we’ll send out a membership pack.
Collection points are available in Hemel Town, Highfield Community Centre, and Chaulden Community Centre.
There is a joining fee of £3 per person, although if you have a Dacorum Card, are a child under 16 or a member of HEMPlets you can sign up for free.
