While only a tiny percentage of residents in Dacorum will ever experience violent crime, all of us see some example of anti-social behaviour every time we go out.
The Borough Council is leading the campaign to curb bad behaviour, working in close association with the police, social services, Primary Care Trust, Housing Associations, Neighbourhood Watch and others.
Issues such as shouting and swearing, general noise nuisance, allowing dogs to foul the footway and dropping litter are just a few examples of bad behaviour that chips away at the quality of life.
The Anti-Social Behaviour Team can use a wide range of remedies, some non-legal such as a yellow or red warning letter or a written Acceptable Behaviour Contract, to legal action such as injunctions, eviction or Anti-Social Behaviour Orders.
