improvements and alterations to your home, provided that
you obtain our written approval prior to commencing the
work.

The type of work for which you require consent
would typically include such installations as electric
showers, replacement kitchens and bathrooms, conservatories,
removal of larders etc.
Leaseholders should be aware that they require
the Council's consent for any structural alterations or alterations
to the appearance of their property, such as replacement windows,
front doors etc.
Generally, the Council will agree to
alterations being carried out to its dwellings, subject to the
proposed alteration being technically sound, properly executed and
not likely to reduce the amenity value of the property.
We will only say no if we feel that your
proposals will adversely affect the property. If we say yes to your
proposals we may impose certain conditions.
You will be responsible for any subsequent
maintenance required to the work you have carried out and we
reserve the right to ask you to reinstate the property to its
original condition at the end of your tenancy.
You will not be charged additional rent for the
improvements and in certain circumstances you may be entitled to
compensation at the end of your tenancy.
