Bulky Household Item Collection

Please note that household refuse collections do not include bulky household items. However, the Council do provide a paid collection service (charges as listed below).

To request this service you can telephone us on the number shown above during normal office hours, where one of our customer service advisors will take your details and book the next available collection day for your area. Providing that your payment is received before that date, the collection of the items will be made from outside your property. Please note that ‘white’ goods e.g. fridges, freezers, cookers, washing machines etc., are collected on a separate day to ordinary household items.

The charges for collections are as follow:

  • Up to 3 items £22.00, Dacorum Card holder £16.50
  • Up to 6 items £32.00, Dacorum Card holder £24.00
  • Over 6 items, or unusual items a quoted collection may be possible.

Refunds can only be given with two clear working days' notice.
(This means that if you have a collection booked for a Friday, the cancellation must be made by the preceding Tuesday at latest)

We are unable to collect garden waste or building materials on this service.

You can also take bulky household items and garden waste to the Household Waste sites free of charge. These are located at:

  • Eastman Way, Hemel Hempstead - open winter time (October 1st to March 31st) daily from 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. and Summer time (April 1st to September 30th) daily from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
  • Northbridge Road, Berkhamsted - open all year daily from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
