The Overview & Scrutiny Committees of the Council have an important role in guiding and examining our policies and performance.

They are involved in keeping under review the whole range of the Council’s activities. They scrutinise the proposals, actions and decisions of the Cabinet and Council; as well as developing and reviewing policy areas and making recommendations of their own. This work enables the Committees to work with Council and community representatives and make positive contributions to the resident’s quality of life.

Dacorum Borough Council has four Overview & Scrutiny Committees with different areas of responsibility. Each Committee has eleven Members, appointed at Annual Council each year. The Committees are politically balanced, to reflect the composition of the Council as a whole, and likewise the Chairman and Vice-Chair can be from any of the political groups.

The Joint Health Committee works in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council.  It has seven members and three Patient Forum Representatives.
