The Sustainable Community Strategy is
our vision for the future of Dacorum - including an ambitious
action plan for the next three years targeting issues from health,
housing and community safety to culture, business and the
environment.
‘Towards 2021’, the Dacorum Sustainable
Community Strategy, has been produced by the Dacorum Partnership,
an alliance between Dacorum Borough Council, Hertfordshire County
Council, Hertfordshire Constabulary, Community Action Dacorum, West
Hertfordshire Primary Care Trust and other statutory and voluntary
organisations.
The strategy was compiled after extensive
consultation with people across the Borough, combined with careful
analysis of statistical data and social trends.
Councillor Andrew Williams, Chair of the
Dacorum Partnership, said: "Thanks to constructive feedback from
the public, ‘Towards 2021’ sets out a comprehensive long-term plan
for our community. It means we have a shared understanding of
future needs and all partners can share responsibility and
resources to improve Dacorum.
"It also helps us to prepare for an expanding
population and to plan how our communities and infrastructure will
cope."
The strategy includes a section on how we can
help tackle climate change locally - and provides goals which
individuals as well as organisations can adopt, such as reducing
waste and recycling.
